Share your experience with someone in a similar situation
After a blood cancer diagnosis, some people find it particularly helpful to talk to someone who has had a similar experience. They may have been diagnosed with the same condition, faced the same treatment options, and may have shared the same worries, concerns, happy times, or sad times.
Our one-to-one buddy support service matches people who have been diagnosed with leukaemia or those caring for them with one of our trained volunteers for regular or one-off telephone calls or emails.
We don’t expect you to have any specific skills or training, just your own experience of leukaemia. We will provide you with the training needed (this is a study pack that can be completed from home), and we will then pair you up with a suitable match.
More information about our Buddy Scheme and how to apply can be accessed here.
View the Buddy Volunteer role specification here.

Use your experience to help us to improve the lives of patients and their families
The Advisory Panel is a group of people with lived experience of leukaemia, MDS or MPN, whether a patient, family member, friend, or carer. They give us an insight into the experience of living with leukaemia and to guide us on the decisions we’re making and the way we are helping.
Our advisory panel members are keen to engage with us continuously as and when we need their feedback. This can be through emails, surveys and polls or could be through focus groups around specific topics.
Be a change maker!
As a campaigner, you’ll be empowered to advocate for those affected by leukaemia, raising crucial issues with local MPs. Whether it’s a visit to Downing Street or a heartfelt email, your voice will make a difference. Join a community dedicated to driving change and improving the lives of leukaemia patients nationwide. Together, we can amplify awareness, secure support, and shape policies that prioritise the needs of those living with leukaemia. Take action now and be a force for positive change!
