I have CLL, what do I need to know to manage a compromised immune system?

This webinar seeks to explore the possible impact of CLL and treatments on the immune system and what immunisation strategies and practises can help better manage health when living with a compromised immunity.

23 September 2022

Join us as we seek to explore the impact of CLL and CLL treatments on the immune system. Our expert panel will be discussing immunisation strategies and practices that can help better manage health when living with compromised immunity.

What questions and advice will be covered?
Due to the high number of attendees, we are not always able to answer each individual’s question, however, we aim to explore a large variety of topics such as:

  • What are the different types of immune-related challenges a CLL patient may experience, why do they happen, and how can this impact day-to-day life?
  • What types of infection might CLL patients be vulnerable to and when?
  • What strategies can help patients to avoid and manage infection?
  • How do you know if your immune system does not function properly?

We will be joined by:

Professor Guy Pratt, Consultant Haematologist, Honorary Professor of Haematology, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust

Helen Knight, CLL Clinical Nurse Specialist, The Russell Centre for Clinical Haematology, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Gene changes in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML)

People with AML have genetic changes in their leukaemia cells. These genetic changes stop the cells working as they should, leading to abnormal cell growth and cancer. Knowing exactly what genetic changes are in your leukaemia cells can help your haematology team work out the best treatments for you.
